What Is a 360 Photo Booth? How a 360 Video Booth Works at a Corporate Event

Updated October 2026

A 360 photo booth is a small round platform where guests stand while a camera on a spinning arm circles them and films a few seconds of slow-motion video. Despite the name, it records video, not photos. Each clip gets music and your logo, then goes straight to the guest's phone so they can post it that night. That's why the same setup is also called a 360 video booth. At a corporate event, it turns a line of guests into a stream of branded clips.

My team and I run 360 booths at brand activations, conferences, galas and trade shows across Texas. This guide covers how the booth works from platform to phone, what guests and your team get, how much room it needs, and a quick check to see if it fits your event. The full package is on my 360 Video Booth page.

How does a 360 photo booth work?

Guests step on, a camera arm circles them for about 7 seconds of slow-motion video, and an edited 20-second vertical clip lands on their phone in about 20 seconds. Picture the second hand of a clock sweeping around a group of friends. That sweep is the whole trick.

Here's the run from platform to phone, the way my team runs it at every event:

  1. 1

    Step on

Up to 4 guests step onto the platform. The operator shows first-timers what to do.

  2. 2

    Countdown

    A 3-second countdown, then about 7 seconds of slow-motion 360 capture.

  3. 3

    Auto-edit

Music, effects and your branded overlay are added to a 20-second vertical video.

  4. 4

    On their phone

Sent by text, email, QR code or AirDrop. International numbers and WhatsApp work too.

  5. 5

    Your gallery

Every video from the event lands in your inbox the next business day.

From the moment guests step on to the moment the clip is on their phone takes about 90 seconds. The line keeps moving because the editing happens on its own while the next group steps up.

Why is it called a photo booth if it records video?

Habit. People knew photo booths first, so "360 photo booth" is the name most planners use when they search or call. "360 video booth" is the more accurate name for the same thing.

The videos come out vertical, which matters more than the name. Instagram Reels play full screen at a 9:16 shape, 1080 x 1920 pixels, according to Hopper HQ's 2026 Reel size guide. YouTube Shorts take vertical videos up to 3 minutes long, per YouTube Help. A 20-second vertical clip fits both without cropping, so guests post it as is.

What does a guest actually walk away with?

A 20-second vertical video with your logo on it, on their own phone, usually within about 20 seconds. No app to download, no guest phone needed to film.

A few details make that work at a real event:

  • A custom overlay. That's the branded frame around every clip. My team designs it from scratch for your event and sends it to you for approval first.
  • A branded sharing screen. Your logo shows on the iPad and in every delivery text and email.
  • Built-in cellular. Videos still send when the venue Wi-Fi struggles, which in a packed ballroom is most of the time.
  • A live slideshow. Every video plays on a screen as it's made, so the people in line see what they're about to get.

What does your company get after the event?

You get a master gallery of every video the next business day, and it stays available for six months. If guests entered an email or phone number to receive their clip, you can ask for those contacts as a CSV file, ready for your CRM.

10 x 10 ftminimum floor space

This is the part most booth companies stop at. My team also runs Meta ads for businesses, so I look at a 360 gallery as raw material: the clips with the biggest reactions can become content and ads long after the event.

How much space does a 360 photo booth need? (The 10-Foot Fit Check)

Plan for a 10 x 10 ft area at minimum, and up to 16 ft if you want the backdrop. My team arrives at least 2 hours before guests do to set up.

Before I quote any event, I run the same five checks. I call it the 10-Foot Fit Check. If a spot passes all five, the booth will stay busy:

  • A clear 10 x 10 ft spot, or up to 16 ft with the backdrop
  • In sight of the bar, registration or the main walkway, not behind a pillar
  • Flat ground with power confirmed, since sand, gravel and loose dirt won't work
  • At least 2 hours of setup time before doors open
  • A TV, projector or stage screen for the live slideshow

Outdoor events work too, on flat ground with power confirmed ahead of time. The sequin backdrop stays indoors because of wind.

Steal this: mark your spot today

Open your venue map and circle one 10 x 10 ft spot that the crowd will walk past. Write the nearest outlet next to it. Send that marked map to every booth vendor you're quoting. You'll get faster, more accurate quotes, and you'll spot a bad location before it costs you a quiet booth.

Is a 360 booth the right pick for a corporate event?

It's the right pick when you want guests to share your brand that night, and you have a spot the crowd walks past. Brand activations, trade shows, conferences, galas, client appreciation events and product launches are where it earns its space.

It's not always the answer. If guests will be seated most of the night, a roaming photographer who comes to them usually catches more people. If you want printed keepsakes with your logo, the Classic Photo Experience is the better fit. For holiday events, my company holiday party ideas cover how a booth fits a party night, and if you want a themed look, my post on AI backgrounds and green screen shows another option.

Common questions about 360 photo booths

Is a 360 video booth the same as a 360 photo booth?

Yes. They're two names for the same setup. Most people search for a 360 photo booth, but the booth records about 7 seconds of slow-motion video as the camera circles your guests. That footage is edited into a 20-second vertical clip with your logo on it.

What is a video booth?

A video booth is any booth that records short videos of guests instead of still photos. A 360 video booth is the most common kind at corporate events. Guests stand on a platform, a camera circles them, and the finished clip is sent to their phone within seconds, ready to post.

How much does a 360 photo booth cost?

Check Cherry's 2026 booking data puts a typical single-service 360 rental at about $750, with the middle half between $500 and $1,113. That data covers about 118,000 rentals booked on its platform, mostly smaller private events, not Texas corporate jobs. My team builds one all-inclusive package that starts at $1,500 for up to 4 hours in San Antonio and Austin. Longer events and travel are quoted within one business day.

Can a 360 photo booth go outdoors?

Yes, on flat ground with power confirmed ahead of time. Sand, gravel and loose dirt won't work because the platform needs a level base. The sequin backdrop stays indoors because of wind. Ask the venue where the nearest outlet is before you pick the spot, and run the 10-Foot Fit Check on the outdoor area too.
